by Fans were disheartened when Westworld was canceled after its fourth season, but Aaron Paul, who joined the cast as Caleb Nichols in Season 3, is still holding out hope for a potential fifth season.
Although the creators had already planned a storyline for the next season, HBO removed the show from its Max streaming platform after the cancellation. Despite this setback, Paul remains optimistic. “I’m still hopeful,” he shared with ComicBook. “I have a general idea of where things were going. Jonathan Nolan, one of the creators, gave me some insights. We’re still discussing the possibility of something happening. I don’t want to raise anyone’s expectations too much, but we genuinely want to tie everything together. So, we’ll see what the future holds.”
Westworld, created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, first aired on HBO in 2016. The series is set in a sophisticated theme park that recreates the American Old West, where visitors can interact with lifelike androids called “hosts,” without facing any consequences. These hosts are designed to fulfill the desires of the guests and are programmed to avoid harming humans. Although their memories are wiped after each encounter, a few of the hosts gradually begin to develop self-awareness.
In addition to Aaron Paul, the show starred Evan Rachel Wood as Dolores Abernathy, Thandiwe Newton as Maeve Millay, Jeffrey Wright as Bernard Lowe, James Marsden as Teddy Flood, Ed Harris as the Man in Black, and Anthony Hopkins as Dr. Robert Ford. While the first season of Westworld was highly praised, the subsequent seasons received mixed reactions as the storyline became more complex and difficult to follow. Aaron Paul Has Other Projects In The Works
Paul’s next project is the sci-fi horror film Ash. According to the official “its begins with an astronaut waking up to find the entire crew of her space station has been killed. Riya has no memory of what happened and only experiences brief, nightmarish flashes of her crew and their mission. Feeling paranoid, she must decide whether she can trust the man sent to rescue her after receiving a distress signal from her location, someone she supposedly knows.”
Additionally, the Breaking Bad star will appear in Bear Country, where he plays Jeff, an “unassuming community college teacher who gets caught up in a corrupt cop’s robbery scheme.” Directed by Derrick Borte, this action-thriller stars Russell Crowe as Manco Kapak, a club owner who is robbed at gunpoint by a masked criminal. The film also features Luke Evans, Daniel Zovatto, Nina Dobrev, and Teresa Palmer.
All four seasons of Westworld are currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Ash will be released on March 21, though Bear Country does not yet have a release date.
