Tiger Woods is absent on the field for the players’ championship next week, confirmed the PGA Tour.
Woods had suggested that he would not play the tournament earlier this week when he said that “his heart was really not playing right now”.
Speaking after the TGL competition on Tuesday evening, the 49 -year -old man died of his mother Kultida last month and his commitments with the PGA Tour Policy Board, because he said that he was not ready to compete in the near future.
“This is the third time that I have touched a club since my mother has passed, so I have not really entered,” said Woods in the comments reported by Sports Illustrated.
The field of 144 players includes 48 of the 50 best players in the official golf ranking and the representation of 24 countries.#Theplayers

“My heart is really not to practice for the moment. I had so many other things to do with the tour and try to do other things.
“Once I probably start feeling a little better and starting to enter it, I’m going to start looking at the calendar.”
The players’ championship will take place at the PGA base in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, TPC Sawgrass next week.
This is the last year in which Woods is exempt from the competition at the back of his victory at the Masters 2019.
The double reigning champion Scottie Scheffler is looking to become the first player to win the title three times since Jack Nicklaus in 1978.
