A marketing company should keep the runners hydrated with water pistols to a half-marathon in Colchester.
Kat Marketing is preparing to help the 4,000 runners stay refreshed during the Half Marathon of Colchester on March 16.
The event, now in its 13th year, will see the runners run in front of the famous monuments of the city on the 13.1 miles route.
The marketing company will have a water station on the route, ready to distribute cups of water to tired runners.
But in Kat’s real marketing style, they will also be armed with pink and white water pistols to spray refreshing water on runners.
The undulating course should test the runners, but we hope that the water station will provide an essential relief.
Kat Marketing is one of the sponsors of the race that begins and ends at the Juberve Community Stadium.
The event supports Robin Cancer Trust, a charity based in memory of Robin Freeman, of Wivenhoe, who died of germ cell cancer at the age of 24.
The charitable organization is led by Robin’s brother, Toby, and devotes himself to raising awareness of germ cell cancer and supporting young people affected by the disease.
Other charitable organizations will also benefit from the sponsorship raised by runners.
Katie Skingle, director general of Kat Marketing, said: “We love the Colchester half-marathon and are very happy to sponsor it again this year.
“The Robin Cancer Trust is a large charity and the event itself offers a wonderful sense of the community and a local training option for those who have registered in the London Marathon.
“We also have a Kat team that also leads it this year and we have the team that manages water stations with our pink and white water pistols.
“Cross fingers, we get perfect conditions and for all those who accept the challenge and race for their own reasons, whatever they are, we are with you and will support you and encourage you along the way.”
The rolling dams will be in place through the route crossing the campaign and in front of the famous Colchester monuments, including the Jumbo water tower, the town hall of Colchester and the Château de Colchester.
