by Rob Key could offer Ben Stokes the opportunity to take the post of one day team captain in England – and potentially put Harry Brook in charge of the T20 team – after admitting that it would be “stupid” not to consider his test Talisman for an extended role.
Speaking in Lord’s Thursday, less than a week after England finished his champions trophy campaign without victory, the director of male cricket maintained his hands to “many errors”. There was also an admission that his players lacked competitiveness that Stokes brings.

While stressing that he “does not feel the pinch” with regard to his own role, Key and his head coach, Brendon McCullum, face a central decision on the best way to replace Jos Buttler as a white ball captain.
With 11 tests, 27 white ball games and a T20 World Cup in the next 12 months, the selection of a multi-format player raises inherent problems. But a bit like McCullum last week, Key insisted that “nothing is outside the table”. This includes asking Stokes, 33, to set in motion a model for the 50 -year -old World Cup in South Africa in 2027, allowing the 26 -year -old stream to cut your teeth with the T20 side initially. As always, many will depend on the physical form, with Stokes currently on the right track for the summer after the swept surgery. The versatile has already withdrawn from the hundred this year.
“Ben Stokes is one of the best captains I have ever seen,” said Key. “It would therefore be stupid not to look at it. It’s just the training effect of what it means.

We did not win in India with the Eoin Morgan team. We have to start sorting out these problems.
“They actually try to concentrate so hard that they end up making mistakes. Sometimes they are reckless. Sometimes they make the wrong decision at the wrong time. But it’s the game. It’s not that we think you go out and play in a way.
Engaging the brain when speaking publicly is another domain key is eager to contact.
