The Olympian hero of Colchester, Lewis Richardson, will trigger the beginners’ pistol when a huge charity event will return to the city next week.
The Lewis boxer represented the GB team at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and returned home with a bronze medal.
Growing up and living in Colchester, he has always supported various good causes.
Now he will start the Colchester Half Marathon, organized by the Robin Cancer Trust.
Lewis said: “As a local proud Colchester, it is a privilege to support the Robin Cancer Trust as an official race starter for the Colchester half-marathon.
“The incredible work they do to raise awareness and provide support for young adults affected by germ cell cancers is really inspiring.

“I can’t wait to encourage each runner to take up this challenge for such a significant cause.”
The annual race, a flagship community event in the city calendar, will bring together thousands of runners of all capacity to travel 13.1 miles around the historic sites of the city.
The race begins and ends at the Colchester Community Stadium.
Running Colchester supported the charity against cancer by preparing runners and providing volunteers for the race day on March 16.
