Could Spider-Man Be Bisexual? Fans Campaign for Tom Holland to Have a Male Love Interest in Spider-Man 4
Since Spider-Man: No Way Home was released in 2021, fans have speculated about Peter Parker and MJ’s future in the next film. The third movie ended with Doctor Strange wiping Peter’s identity from everyone’s memory, including MJ’s, to protect the multiverse. As a result, Peter now keeps his secret from MJ to shield her.
A post discussing Peter having a male love interest in Spider-Man 4 received over 200,000 likes. Many fans in the comments suggested that Peter should experience a queer awakening.
In 2013, Andrew Garfield shared his desire for his Spider-Man to have a male love interest. He even pushed for it, asking, “What if MJ is a dude? Why can’t we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality? It’s hardly even groundbreaking! So why can’t he be gay? Why can’t he be into boys?”
In response to Garfield’s comments, one fan said, “Andrew tried to get his Peter a boyfriend, and I’m sure that’s one reason he didn’t get to finish his trilogy.” Another fan joked, “The multiverse is open. Somewhere out there, Peter Parker has a boyfriend.” A third fan humorously suggested that Gwen Stacy could be reimagined as “Glen Stacy.”
As of now, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has not been shown as queer. However, there’s no reason why he couldn’t experience a queer awakening in future films. In 2022, Marvel Comics introduced a new gay Spider-Verse character, Web-Weaver. Could Web-Weaver potentially be a love interest for Peter in Spider-Man 4?
What do you think? Would you like to see Peter Parker with a boyfriend?
